FACE/OFF
Starring
Nicholas Cage
John Travolta
This film was John Woo's third film since he started in Hollywood, and personally, I think it's the first that really shows off his directing talent.
This is the plot: When an assassination attempt involving LA cop Sean Archer (Travolta), and international terrorist Castor Troy (Cage) goes wrong, Archer's Eight year old son is killed. Swearing revenge, Archer hunts down Troy for six years.
But when he finally catches him and kills him, Archer finds out that Castor and his brother Pollex have planted a huge nerve gas bomb somewhere in LA, and the clock is ticking.
The only problem is, the only person Pollex will talk to about the bomb is his brother….. and he's dead.
Or is he?

I love this film, because it's stylish and very cleverly directed. It may not contain as much action as Woo's other films, but the style makes up for it.
See left: Woo's trademark makes another appearance!
The two main actors are superb, and it's not until the end of the film that you realise why. You see, they play totally different characters for the first 15 minutes or so, and then swap around. The effect of this is incredible, a 100% change in character by both actors.

However, the film is not 100% original - the final boat chase scene was original designed for Hard Target!
Yes, it may be far-fetched in places, the final scene wasn't even designed for it, and the stunt men don't even resemble Cage or Travolta, but it's still an excellent film.
BUY IT!!!!
